Who is E.D.Y?
He is independent. He is a artist. He is a producer. He is a rapper who is, furthermore also aspiring to learn the arts of DJ. He is a 27 year old Southern California native born in Anaheim in the year of 1991. He graduated from a local community college with an associates in Interdisciplinary studies before leaving out of state to study on his bachelor's and now returns to finish what he started. He is really just another ordinary person trying to live his passion in what is becoming a not so ordinary world. E.D.Y. is capable of expressing his thoughts, feelings, emotions and straight facts through his music. His wordplay is reminiscent to a select few who've set the stage for artists like himself to be heard. His selection and meshing of genres bring a variety of new chills, feelings and emotions to the ear.
Being in a mixed family allowed E.D.Y. to be around a variety of genres of music as a child growing up. His mother grew up on the sounds of gospel, soul, r&b and more, listening to the likes of Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, her favorite singer of all time. On the contrary, his father would listen to oldies Los Angeles Radio whenever he drove around in his Cadillac where you would commonly hear the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Ben E. King, Elton John, & The Beatles to name just a few. However, E.D.Y.'s older step-sister may have had the biggest influence on E.D.Y.'s tastes, bumping some of rap and hip hops most successful artists & mc's as an aspiring dancer. These experiences as a baby listening to some of the greatest including Tupac, Biggie, Dr.Dre, Public Enemy, Nate Dogg, LL Cool J and more that help shape E.D.Y. into the artist and producer he is today.
What does E.D.Y. even mean...?
It stands for Empires Die Young. For myself, it is a metaphor to help remind myself to remain humble wherever my journey takes me and take advantage of the opportunities and experiences you can be exposed to. But more importantly, it is also a warning to remain smart and aware about how you go about your business because one day your business may or will not be present.
